Education is Totally Free for Students of Classes From 1st to 8th in Haryana

Making education totally free for students of classes from 1st to 8th, the Haryana government has directed all government schools to return the amount of all funds charged from students of these classes for the year 2010-11 with immediate effect. Stating this here today, Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal said earlier the students of classes 1st to 8th had to pay for various funds like health, science, consolidated fund, examination, child welfare, red cross, audio-visual, music, home science, building fund, sports, parent teacher association fund and admission fee.

Ms Bhukkal made it clear that no such funds or any fee would be charged from students in future. She said the state government had implemented Right to Education Act-2009 in the state. She said all records pertaining to refund of fee would be maintained in a separate register and receipt would be provided to the parents or guardians of the students
